The skies tonight were so exciting! I went up on the roof to get a better view of the lightning that was striking to the north, east and south of Adams Morgan. Usually when we have lightning it is too wet to photograph but tonight the rain stayed away long enough for me to make these pictures. All of these images were made with the camera on a tripod and the exposures took 30 seconds each.

Massive strikes like these lit up the apartment and sparked Amanda to pull me away from my house chores (installing doors on book shelves) so I could appreciate the sky.
