DC is a great city to walk/bike/metro — commuting or getting around by car is usually a headache. If you plan your routes using popular mapping websites you should choose carefully. What I mean is choose ask.com if you’re biking.
Let’s say you want to walk from the corner of Pennsylvania Ave & 15th to the Treasure Department on Madison place. Punch that into Google Maps and you’ll be walking up, over and around the block and nearly going half a mile. Perform the same search on Ask (and choose the walking directions tab on the results page) and you’ll be going the direct route — one fourth of the distance that Google suggested!
This is perfect for bikers and walkers who want to go the shortest distance between two points! Try it out yourself or see my search!
wow I’m a googler for life, but that’s messed up! I’m so glad you took me the ask.com way…;)
