To be a Tourist when Relatives Come to Town
After Mattie and the rest of us saw the Lincoln Memorial, we walked along the reflecting pool towards the World War II memorial. From the a distance the walk seemed to be cleanest and easiest on the cement next to the pool. But as we walked Mattie noticed the droppings of animals who do not use the National Park Service facilities to relieve themselves. She started to run and hop over the offensive spots until she gave up and walked on the grass.
