I’m thinking about going from film to digital. I know, I know, you think I should have already done it…everybody’s doing it or talking about doing it, or scared of doing it. Well, I’m ready. I think.
Going to RiteAid or Walgreens takes a lot of time and i’ve had my share of bad experiences at those sorts of places. Scanning film doesn’t have an allure any more. Sitting and scanning is so slow and my website shows it.
The details have not been worked out yet, but this is a draft idea of the basic setup for the digital fun:
- laptop
- Canon 20D
- extra battery for the camera
- a couple of Compact Flash cards and a CF card reader
- external hard drive (check out the CrossFire as well as the FireLite, both from SmartDisk.)
- DVD burner
- adobe photoshop
- photo mechanic
- iView Media Pro
There is more to plan and think about, but it’s not a good night for that. Tomorrow?
